Extending HCL OneDB™Beyond standard relational database objects, HCL OneDB™ can be extended to handle specialized data types, access methods, routines, and other objects. HCL OneDB™ includes many built-in extensions that are fully integrated in the database server. HCL OneDB™ also provides DataBlade® modules, which are packages of extended database objects for a particular purpose and that are installed separately from the database server. Alternatively, you can create your own user-defined objects for HCL OneDB™.
Creating extensionsYou can create user-defined data types, routines, access methods, and other database objects to suit your needs. You can use application programming interfaces to write user-defined routines and applications that access data in HCL OneDB™ databases.

OneDB DataBlade Developers Kit (DBDK) tools

The OneDB® DataBlade® Developers Kit (DBDK) provides the following graphical user interfaces for creating and working with DataBlade modules:

Tool name	Description
BladeSmith.	A tool for organizing a DataBlade module development project. You use BladeSmith to create a project and then define the objects (such as data types and routines) that belong to the DataBlade module. BladeSmith generates source files, header files, makefiles, functional test files, SQL scripts, messages, and packaging files. Create DataBlade objects by using BladeSmith, describes how to use this tool.
DBDK Visual C++ Add-In and IfxQuery	Tools for debugging a DataBlade module by using Microsoft™ Visual C++ on Windows™. The add-in automates many of the debugging tasks and calls the IfxQuery tool to run unit tests for DataBlade module routines. BladePack	A tool for creating a DataBlade module package. BladePack can create a simple directory tree containing files to be installed or an installation that includes an interactive user interface. BladePack, describes how to use this tool.
BladeManager	A utility for registering and unregistering DataBlade modules in HCL OneDB databases. The HCL OneDB DataBlade Module Installation and Registration Guide describes how to use this tool.
