Adding a new Microsoft Outlook profile

Create a new profile in Microsoft Outlook that syncs with your IBM® Notes® mail.

Before you begin

Install IBM mail support for Microsoft Outlook.

About this task

You must use one profile for the IBM mail client and the client must be the primary account in the profile.

Note: If your account has already been set up by an administrator, simply launching Outlook will present you with a password prompt, and you can ignore this Help topic.

Procedure

  1. To begin the setup, complete the steps that apply to your situation:

Results

After a few minutes, folders, mail, calendar, and contacts sync to Outlook. In some situations it might take more than a few minutes for mail to arrive.
Note: If you can't connect in Step 4:
  • Confirm that your user name and password are correct.
  • Confirm that your mail file is available; your administrator can help.
  • If you see an error containing the text ibm_mail_sync.dll (not ibm_mail_sync32.dll), you're running 64-bit Microsoft Outlook or Microsoft Office, which isn't supported. Install the 32-bit version, instead. See Client requirements.

What to do next

To be able to look up names, connect to your corporate directory.

If you made a local archive of your mail before you installed the IBM mail client, add the archive file to your IBM mail client account.
