Domino Leap on Docker overview

HCL Domino Leap 1.1 includes a Docker-compatible Red Hat Universal Base Image (UBI) of Domino Leap that is part of your entitlement and available for download through the HCL Licensing Portal. HCL Domino Leap is pre-installed on this image – this allows you to deploy a Domino Leap server as a container with just a few commands.

The dleap-container image includes HCL Domino 12.02 and is built from the domino-container image (available separately as part of your Domino entitlement). Since Domino Leap docker image is built on domino-container, the instructions for managing a containerized Domino Leap server are very similar.

For more information, refer to the following pages in the HCL Domino 12.0.2 documentation:
Depending on your needs, there are three ways to deploy Domino Leap on Docker:
  • Upgrade from a previous version of Domino Leap on Docker.

Use this option if you have been running a containerized Domino Leap server based on a previous version of the dleap-container image.

  • Deploy a brand-new server with a new Domino data directory.

As with Domino on Docker, your Domino Leap server may either be added to an existing domain, or it may be the first server in a new domain.

Use this option if you plan on deploying the Domino Leap server in a production environment.

  • Deploy a server that uses a sample data directory.

Use this option if you are evaluating HCL Domino Leap and want to get started more quickly.

For each option, start by loading the dleap-container image into Docker. For more information, see Loading the Domino Leap tar archive file to Docker.
