Creating a landing page
Landing pages group areas of content together to help people find the content that they need. For example, you might create a Communications landing page that organizes all News, Executive Communications, and Press Releases in one area of your website. Anyone that is interested in seeing the most recent communications opens that landing page first.
Adding a list to a landing page
Now that you have content for your landing page, create a list to highlight featured content on the landing page. Do so by adding one of the Content Template Catalog predefined list portlets to the page.

  - Installing
    HCL Digital Experience provides flexible deployment options that range from proof-of-concept where you can examine and test functionality to a highly available and scalable production environment. Review the planning information to learn more about hardware and software requirements, high availability, scalability, supported topologies, and much more. Select your operating system and then select the installation pattern that most reflects your business needs.

    Run the following tasks after you install and deploy HCL Digital Experience. They address tasks that are typically run one time and have a global effect. Some configuration changes are made more frequently or do not have a global effect. These tasks are addressed in the Administering section.

    Backup and recovery of data files and databases is an essential operation for any business system, particularly for data and applications that run in production environments. Create and follow a plan for backing up and recovering data on all tiers of your HCL Digital Experience deployment. IBM Installation Manager must also be included in backup and recovery planning. If you back up the HCL Portal file structure and then install a fix pack, your HCL Digital Experience and IBM Installation Manager become out of sync after you restore the HCL Portal file system. This condition is not recoverable.

There are two methods for editing portal setup: using the administration portlets or the XML configuration interface.       You can use Content Template Catalog to mock up a site quickly or to build the skeleton of a site as a basis for further development. By using the templating patterns that Content Template Catalog is built on, you can supply a customized system for your users that lets them build their own sites. Content Template 4.4 requires HCL Digital Experience 8.5 with CF08 or higher installed.

        It is recommended that Site Builder is used to start creating a CTC site. Site Builder automates the first few steps of creating a new site. Site Builder creates a site area, a content library, and a home page automatically. Depending on the site template design, the Site Builder also creates extra pages and links them to the home page. Developing a site without Site Builder means creating a home page and landing pages manually, setting up page component configurations, then adding special content such as teasers and integrating social media.
        Creating a site by using Site Builder
        The recommended method of creating a site is to use a Content Template compatible Site Builder template from the Site Builder wizard. This creates a site that is Content Template ready. You then edit the site by editing any existing pages and content, adding new pages using Content Template page templates, and adding Content Template portlets as required.
        Creating a landing page
        Landing pages group areas of content together to help people find the content that they need. For example, you might create a Communications landing page that organizes all News, Executive Communications, and Press Releases in one area of your website. Anyone that is interested in seeing the most recent communications opens that landing page first.
        Adding content to a landing page
        When you first create landing pages, they are empty. After you add the subareas you want, which will be a combination of index/details pages, and potentially further levels of landing pages, you come back and add content.

        Now that you have content for your landing page, create a list to highlight featured content on the landing page. Do so by adding one of the Content Template Catalog predefined list portlets to the page.
        Limiting the scope of a list
        List portlets automatically pull content from all areas under the landing page. They cannot link content titles to a specific site area. Make the list more useful by limiting the scope of the list to a specific area and by using the title as a shortcut link to that area.
        Adding a cross-linked list to a page
        As your site grows, adding cross-linked lists that link to pages at the same level or in separate areas might become necessary. For example, to list News articles on an Executive Communications page, add a list to the Executive Communications page and then configure it to retrieve content from the News area.
        Creating index and details pages
        Most page templates create a pair of pages. They have an index page to provide content navigation and a details page to display individual content items.
        Creating other pages
        All of the Content Template Catalog page templates specify the page parameter ibm.portal.instantiation.content.dynamic.copy.target.selection as true. This means that the page template instantiation code copies the content that is associated with the page template into the site area that is mapped to the existing parent page.

        The Content Template Catalog templates have three types of inline content editing built into them. The Content Template theme extensions modify the inline page editing experience too.

Adding a list to a landing page using CTC | HCL Digital Experience

Now that you have content for your landing page, create a list to highlight featured content on the landing page. Do so by adding one of the Content Template Catalog predefined list portlets to the page.

About this task

For some content types, the list portlet is already pre-configured and displays content immediately. For others, you must use a generic portlet and configure it to point to the content to retrieve.

Procedure

Browse to your landing page.
Switch to Edit mode.
Select the Content tab.
Click Lists.
Most lists offer two versions – one is formatted for the main column and the other for the sidebar column.
Drag portlets onto the page in the column you want.
Switch to Edit mode.
Hover over the list and click Open Edit Form.
In the list configuration form, scroll to "List Templates" and enter the name of the template in the format:
Library Name/Template
Click Save & Close.

Results

The generic portlet retrieves content beneath this landing page that was created with the specified template. The library and template name must be an exact match for this action to work.
