- Installing or upgrading Component Pack for Connections
  HCL Connections 7.0 now supports the latest Component Pack based in Harbor, an open-source container and Helm registry hosted by HCL for the Component Pack build. Deployments that are new or carrying Component Pack 7 will use this approach for a simplified installation/upgrade process, while releases prior to 7.0 will first need to upgrade to Component Pack 7 using a zip file and a local Docker registry.

  - Registering custom widgets
    Register all custom and third-party widgets starting with HCL Connections™ 6 CR1 \IFR1 to ensure they meet security requirements and can display in communities.
  - Reviewing the JVM heap size
    Review the size of the Java™ Virtual Machine heap and adjust it, if necessary, to avoid out-of-memory errors or to suit your hardware capabilities.
  - Configuring the community creation wizard
    Starting with Connections 7.0, a community wizard is available to help users create communities. Replacement of the old Community creation process is managed by configuration, which provides you the flexibility to first deploy and test that capability and then switch the user experience.
  - Configuring IBM® HTTP Server
    When you have successfully installed HCL Connections™ to run on WebSphere® Application Server, you can configure IBM® HTTP Server to handle web traffic.
  - Configuring the Home page administrator
    Create an administrator for Home page so that you can make changes to the application such as adding and removing widgets.
  - Configuring additional HCL Connections applications
    You must perform additional tasks to enable type-ahead search, Customizer Lite, and Community Surveys in HCL Connections.

    - Installing Customizer Lite
      This topic describes how to install Customizer Lite. There are two deployment options, hereby referred to as Customizer Lite and Customizer Lite HA. Customizer Lite – the most basic deployment using a single Docker node running a single instance of each required service, and Customizer Lite HA – a more resilient deployment using a pair (or more) of Docker nodes all running instances of each required service with requests load balanced across available nodes.
    - Installing Community Surveys
      If you want to be able to conduct surveys within Communities to capture data and share it easily with your community in an activity stream, enable Community Surveys.
- Optional: Installing and configuring Tiny Editors for HCL Connections
  The Tiny editors are alternative rich-text editors which can be installed for HCL Connections™. They provide additional features and extensive customization options not available with the default editor.

  Complete the post-installation tasks that are relevant to your deployment.

  Upgrade HCL Connections and its supporting software to the latest release and then update the installation with the latest interim fixes or cumulative fixes. Enabling type-ahead search

Enable the type-ahead search feature using Elasticsearch in an HCL Connections™ deployment.

Before you begin

Review the topic, Managing the Elasticsearch index for Connections type-ahead search to determine if you want to change the default number of shards or replicas. These values should be changed prior to creating the index.

Verify that the server can connect to the Elasticsearch server and that SSL is configured.

About this task

You can configure type-ahead search using the Elasticsearch component of the Component Pack for Connections.

Procedure

Run the following SearchService administration command:
```
SearchService.createES7QuickResultsIndex()
```
For information on running SearchService commands, see ../admin/r_admin_searchservice_commands.html.

Attention: This step must complete successfully before you proceed to step 2.
Update the LotusConnections-config.xml file in the Deployment Manager profile configuration folder:
Add the following statement to the <properties> section of the file:
```
<genericProperty name="quickResultsEnabled">true</genericProperty>
```

Update the search-config.xml file in the Deployment Manager profile configuration folder:

Add the following statements to the <propertySettings> section:

Synchronize the nodes and then restart the servers or clusters that are running the Search and Common applications.
