Sharing files and folders

As a file or folder owner you can keep your files private, share them with people and communities, or make them visible to everyone in your organization. Sharing files or folders with communities is not available to HCL Connections Files subscribers.

About this task

As an owner you can give people Reader or Editor access. You can also make the file available to the public.

You can click the Sharing tab on a file page to display how the file is shared.

Procedure

  1. From the title bar, click Apps > Files.
  2. Click the name of the file or folder you want to share.
  3. Click Share.
  4. Proceed to add people or communities, giving them either editing or reader access. Under People or Communities, if you select Everyone in my organization, they are added as readers.
  5. Click Share.
    Note:
    • If you are using an HTML-5 browser, the file size limit for a single file is set by your administrator. Otherwise, the file size limit is 500 MB.
    • Your administrator limits the amount of space that you have for storing files. Stored files include all versions of uploaded files. If needed, you can store up to 1 TB of files in your personal files, and more storage can be purchased for you. You can also delete old file versions to create more storage space.
    • Files are scanned for viruses during upload. Uploaded files are also scanned periodically for viruses.
