About file attachments

You can add file attachments to a record and associate a description with the attachment.

If a record contains file attachments, the Attachments page includes a general description of each file. Use this page in locally mastered records to open an attachment, save it to your local file system, or delete it. When you delete an attachment from a record, the file is deleted from the HCL Compass database.

If a record is mastered remotely, you cannot open or delete its file attachments.

An attachment to a defect record might contain a source file, a shell script that reproduces a problem, or a detailed description of observed behavior. Each file that you attach to a record is stored directly in the database.
