Select HCL Compass clients to deploy

Determine the clients that are required for each site to plan the deployment and obtain the required licenses.

Each client has its own benefits and requirements. Some deployment models might use all the clients, depending on licensing strategy, lab locations, performance needs, and user needs and expertise. HCL Compass Clients - work required for deployment provides a brief description of each client and the work that is required to deploy the client.

Client Deployment work
HCL Compass Web client - web-based interface for HCL Compass Moderate deployment work required. This web client requires dedicated server resources, but does not require users to install HCL Compass on their local system. Providing users with access to this client requires a server to host the following server software that must be installed and configured: WebSphere® Application Server, IBM® HTTP Server, and the HCL Compass Web server.

You can also install optional server components to support additional features such as full-text search and reporting.

HCL Compass Client - An Eclipse-based, stand-alone application. Minimal deployment work required. This client is installed with default settings and does not require any configuration.
HCL Compass client for Windows™ - Windows based application Minimal deployment work required. This client is installed with default settings and does not require any configuration.
