Ensuring characters in database sets are supported in a HCL Compass data code page

If you are using HCL Compass for the first time, the GUI-based tools provide support to set up and manage data code pages for your schema repositories. Also, for many previous users of HCL Compass whose data code pages were set to US-ASCII, the GUI provides all required code page functionality.

In most cases, databases created by an older version of HCL Compass are compatible with newer versions. In such a case, no action is required. However it is good practice to validate the database set by using the codepageutil utility to ensure that all existing data is compatible with the new data code page.

Some HCL Compass environments will include data that must be converted before it can be used with an environment using a newer version. To convert your data, you must perform the following tasks:

  • Develop a conversion strategy for the data currently in your schema repositories.
  • Use the HCL Compass utilities to evaluate your content and convert the data to the data code page that you plan to use.
