Recovering from import errors

This topic provides information about how to recover from errors that occur during an import operation.

If errors occur during an import operation, information about the failures is written to the Console view and a discarded data log file is created. The discarded data log file includes a list of unimported records and you can find it in the location you specified in the Import wizard.

Before you can import the failed records, you must:

  1. Review the output in the Console view.
  2. Open the discarded data log file that contains the unimported records.
  3. Correct the errors in the records and verify that the discarded data log file uses the import file format. For more information, see Creating a HCL Compass import file.
  4. Perform the import operation again, but specify the discarded data log file as the import file.
