Testing the import process

This topic provides an overview of the steps you should follow to test the import process.

Before importing all data into a HCL Compass database, test the entire import process on a subset of the data:

1. Create a test database.
2. Export a subset of the data to a HCL Compass import file.
3. Run the Import wizard to import the data.
4. Work with the data in the HCL Compass client to determine whether the import schema functions as expected.
5. Modify the import schema as necessary, and test the process again.
