Effect of mastership on HCL Compass client users

Mastership does not affect access privileges, which are propagated from replica to replica. For example, a user who has SQL Editor privileges on the local replica has SQL Editor privileges on all replicas, as long as the replicas are synchronized.

Mastership affects HCL Compass client users in the following ways:

  • Users can modify only the records and objects (such as Public Queries) that are currently mastered at the replica where they are logged in. They cannot modify records or objects that are not currently mastered at their local replica.
  • Users can perform the following tasks only at the replica where they are currently mastered. For example, if a user is currently mastered at Replica A, that user can perform these tasks only when logged in to Replica A:
    • Change their user profile
    • Save defaults while submitting queries
    • Assign startup queries
    • Add workspace items to the Query menu as favorites
