Testing the new Management Center tool customization

In this lesson, you test the Recipes tool in Management Center to ensure that you can create and manage recipe objects.

Procedure

  1. Open the Management Center; log in to Management Center as the Recipe Manager.
  2. Click Management Center Tools > Recipe to open the Recipe tool.
  3. Click the Recipe by Collections folder in the explorer view to open a list view of the available recipe collections
  4. Update a recipe collection
    1. In the list view of available recipe collections, right-click the recipe collection for Western Foods; click Open.
    2. Edit the recipe collection description to This collection holds the recipes to make Western Foods.
    3. Click Save to save your changes.
    4. Click Close to return to the list view of available recipe collections.
  5. Create a recipe collection
    1. From the Management Center toolbar, select the arrow next to the icon, and click Recipe Collection to create a recipe collection.
    2. For the Recipe Collection Information, enter Staple Foods. For the Recipe Collection Name, enter This is the collection to hold the recipe to make all Staple Foods. for the Recipe Collection Description.
    3. Click Save to save your changes.
    4. Click Close to return to the list view of available recipe collections.
  6. View the recipes for a recipe collection
    1. Click the recipe collection for Western Foods in the explorer view to open a list view of the available recipes for a recipe collection.
    2. In the list view of available recipes, right-click a recipe for Western Foods; click Open.
    3. Right-click a recipe, select Open. The recipe information displays
    4. Select the Ingredients tab; Right-click an ingredient select Open ensure that the ingredient information is accurate. Click Close.
    5. Click the Recipe Instruction tab; Right-click a recipe instruction select Open. Ensure that the instruction information is accurate. Click Close
    6. Click the Usage Association tab; ensure that the associated products are accurate; click Close. The list of available recipes for Western Foods displays
  7. Create a recipe
    1. From the Management Center toolbar, select the arrow next to the icon, and click Recipe to create a recipe for the Western Foods recipe collection.
    2. For the General Recipe Information, enter the following values:

      Recipe Name Delicious Grilled Ham and Cheese Sandwich
      Time (min) 10
      Difficulty Level easy
      Short Description Delicious Grilled Ham and Cheese Sandwich
      Long Description Quick and delicious, serve with dill pickles!
      Do not assign a recipe collection for this recipe now.
    3. Click the Ingredients tab.
    4. Click the Create New Ingredient Name icon.
    5. Create the following ingredient:

      Quantity 2
      Unit oz
      Description Thinly sliced onions.
    6. Repeat the previous two steps to create the following ingredients:

      Ingredient Name Sourdough or multigrain bread

      Description Slices of sourdough or multigrain bread.

    7. In the explorer view, click the Delicious Grilled Ham and Cheese Sandwich recipe. The updated ingredients table displays in the Ingredients tab.
    8. Click the Recipe Instruction tab.
    9. Click the Create New Instruction icon.
    10. Create the following instruction:

      Description In skillet, heat 2 tbsp vegetable oil over medium heat; fry onion and 1/4 tbsp each of salt and pepper, stirring occasionally, until tender and golden, about 10 minutes.
    11. Repeat the previous two substeps to create the following instructions:

      Description Brush bread with mustard. Cover half of the slices with smoked ham; top with onion and cheese. Sandwich with remaining bread.

      Description In same skillet, heat 2 tbsp vegetable oil over medium-low heat. Cook sandwiches, pressing with spatula and turning once until bread is crusty and cheese is melted, about 8 minutes.
    12. In the explorer view, click the Delicious Grilled Ham and Cheese Sandwich recipe; the updated recipe instructions table displays in the Recipe Instruction tab.
    13. Click File > Save All.
    14. Click File > Close All.
    15. In the explorer filter view, click Unassigned Recipes. The Unassigned Recipes table displays.
    16. Right-click your recipe. Click Open. The general information for your recipe displays in the main work area.
    17. In the Assigned Collection field, use the Find and Add function to add the Staple Foods recipe collection as the assigned collection for your recipe.
    18. Click Save and Close.
    19. In the explorer filter view, click the Staple Foods recipe collection. The available recipes for this collection display in the main work area.
    20. Right-click your recipe. Click Open.
    21. Click the Ingredients tab. Right-click the Onions ingredient and click Open. The ingredient information displays.
    22. In the Preferred Product field, use the Find and Add function to add the following product:
      Code Name
      GVE034_3405 Onions
    23. Click Save and Close.
    24. Click the Usage Association tab. The associated products table displays.
    25. Use the Find and Add function to add the following products to the table:
      Code Name
      HKT030_3005 KitchenCraft Stainless Steel Utensil Set
      HKT030_3014 KitchenCraft Chef Line Six Piece Cooking Set
    26. Click Save and Close.
  8. Delete a recipe collection
    1. In the list view of available recipe collections, right-click Staple Foods recipe collection. Click Show Recipes.
    2. Right-click your newly created recipe and click Delete > Yes to delete the recipe.
