The information contained in this section applies to IBM WebSphere Commerce Version 7.0.0.9 and Feautre Pack 8. The documentation also applies to all subsequent releases and modifications until otherwise indicated in new editions.
Samples
Starter stores
A fully functional sample online store, provided in store archive format with WebSphere Commerce. Starter stores are samples designed to be used as a base from which a customized online store can be created. Starter stores are translated into several languages and support multiple Web browsers and platforms. Starter stores are fully accessible, with the exception of the Madisons mobile starter store. Accessibility guidelines for mobile devices are not well defined or well established.
Extended sites starter store
Use an extended sites starter store to get started on setting up an extended sites solution that will allow your selling organization to provide unique storefronts for different enterprise customers or showcase a number of branded storefronts.
Hosting support
Support for the hosting business is provided in Websphere Commerce through the extended sites business model. You may publish the ExtendedSitesHub.sar store archive with your ExtendedSites.sar in order to see an example of a hosting site provided with WebSphere Commerce. Use this sample to get started on setting up a hosting site where you will be able to host sellers with a partitioned catalog (that is, independent catalog).
Extended sites hub site flow
The extended sites hub (available only if ExtendedSitesHub.sar has been published) is an e-commerce site where prospective Sellers can register and set up a store. Seller is a role defined in WebSphere Commerce to supervise the overall store objectives and management, in addition to tracking the store sales.

The extended sites hub (available only if ExtendedSitesHub.sar has been published) is an e-commerce site where prospective Sellers can register and set up a store. Seller is a role defined in WebSphere Commerce to supervise the overall store objectives and management, in addition to tracking the store sales.

From the extended sites hub, a Seller can do the following:

Self-register from the extended sites hub. Once approved, Sellers can create a store using the Store Creation wizard.
Manage the store. Capabilities include changing the store look and feel, marketing, product management, and others.
Perform organization and user management tasks.

Channel Manager is another important role defined in WebSphere Commerce. Channel Managers can administer the extended sites hub by using the WebSphere Commerce Accelerator.
