Viewing a log file

By default, the results of a job, report pack, and dashboard run are logged. For each item that is run, a single log file is created. Use the Log Settings page property of an item to disable, enable, and configure the contents of its log.

Before you begin

The log file must have been saved to the database (the default) before you can view it with this procedure. If it is not saved to the database you must access the log from the server.


  1. Find the item in the Folder Content Summary.
  2. In the Trace Log column, click the View Log link for the item. If the Download link is not available, then the item has not been run yet.
  3. Click Save to save the log as a text file to your system.
  4. Open the text file to review the log.
