Troubleshooting

For communication to be established between systems, both systems must be on the same domain.

About this task

When the Active Directory DC setup is completed, the domain conroller machine is on <domain-name>.com but the domain of the Portal machine remains as Workgroup.

To change the Workgroup to domain, complete the following steps:

Procedure

  1. Navigate to Control Panel > Network and Internet > Network and Sharing Center.
  2. Select Ethernet.
    The Ethernet0 Status dialog opens.
  3. Click Properties.
    The Ethernet0 Properties dialog opens.
  4. Select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) and click Properties.
    The Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) Properties dialog opens.
  5. Click Advanced.
    The Advanced TCP/IP Settings dialog opens.
  6. Select DNS tab.
  7. Click Add.
    The TCP/IP DNS Server dialog opens.
  8. In the DNS Server: field, type the IP address of the domain controller system and click Add.
    The Advanced TCP/IP Settings dialog appears.
  9. Click OK.
    The Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) Properties dialog appears.
  10. Click OK.
    The Ethernet0 Properties dialog appears.
  11. Click OK.
    The Ethernet0 Status dialog appears.
  12. Click Close.
  13. Navigate to Control Panel > Network and Internet > System.
  14. In the Computer name, domain, and workgroup settings section, select Change Settings.
    The System Properties dialog opens.
  15. Click Change.
    The Computer Name/Domain Changes dialog opens.
  16. In the Member of section, select Domain and type the domain name and click OK. For example, discover.com.
  17. Type the credentials of the domain controller.
