Changing the Portal URL to SSL

Complete the following steps to change the Portal URL to SSL:

Procedure

  1. Note: Use Administrator credentials to make the following changes on server 2 (for notations, see Microsoft Windows NT Login Configuration), which is the server having the Discover portal.
    On your Windows server (system), navigate to Control Panel > System and Security > Administrative Tools.
  2. Double-click Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager.
    The Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager panel opens.
  3. On the left of the panel, select <Server Name> and select Server Certificates.
  4. Within Actions, select Create Self-Signed Certificate.
    The Create Self-Signed Certificate dialog opens.
  5. For the field Specify a friendly name for the certificate:, type an appropriate name and click OK. For example, LiveCert.
    The Server Certificates dialog opens listing the new certificate. Exit the dialog.
  6. On the left side of Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager panel, expand <Server Name> > Sites and select Default Web Site.
  7. On the right side of the Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager panel, select Bindings within the Actions section.
    The Site Bindings dialog opens.
  8. Click Edit.
    The Edit Site Binding dialog opens.
  9. For the IP address field, type * (the entry * will not appear and will be replaced by All Unassigned and click OK.
    The Site Bindings dialog appears.
  10. Click Close.

What to do next

  • Restart IIS.
  • Open a browser and prefix the Portal URL with https://.

    If you see the following warning on the page: Your connection is not private, click Advanced. A URL appears at the bottom of the page. Click the URL and the portal opens with the https prefix struckthrough.
