Disabling functions for user clients

The following table contains four columns, showing:

  • The five types of user clients for Z and I Emulator for Web and Database On-Demand.
  • For each type of client, the utility provided (if required) for creating an HTML file.
  • For each type of client, the path for configuring sessions.
  • For each type of client, the path for disabling functions.

Each of the four columns is described in detail in the text following the table.

1) Type of user client: 2) Utility for creating an HTML file: 3) Path for configuring sessions: 4) Path for disabling functions:
Customer-defined Z and I Emulator for Web clients a) Configuration server-based client Deployment Wizard Administration Utility > Sessions Administration Utility > Disable Functions
b) Combined client Deployment Wizard Administration Utility > Sessions Administration Utility > Disable Functions
c) HTML-based client Deployment Wizard Deployment Wizard > Configure Deployment Wizard > Disable Functions
Predefined Z and I Emulator for Web clients (default.html) (Not required) Administration Utility > Sessions Administration Utility > Disable Functions
Predefined Database On-Demand clients (defaultdatabase.html) (Not required) Administration Utility > Sessions Administration Utility > Disable Functions or Administration Utility > Database > Options
1) Type of user client:
This column shows the five types of user clients for Z and I Emulator for Web and Database On-Demand. (This column does not include the Administration clients nor any Debug clients.) Notice that:
  • Z and I Emulator for Web has Customer-defined clients and Predefined clients.
  • Database On-Demand has only Predefined clients.
A Customer-defined client is a client for which the customer creates an HTML file using the Deployment Wizard. A Predefined client is a client for which Z and I Emulator for Web provides an already defined HTML file (such as default.html or database.html ).
2) Utility for creating an HTML file:
This column shows that for Customer-defined clients the Deployment Wizard is provided for creating an HTML file, but that for Predefined clients no no utility for creating an HTML file is provided, (because the HTML file has already been created). This column is included for clarity, to distinguish between:
  • The use of the Deployment Wizard to create an HTML file (used for all three types of Customer-defined clients, as shown in the top three cells of column 2); and
  • The use of the Deployment Wizard as a starting point for configuring sessions and for disabling functions (used only for the HTML-based type of CUstomer-defined client, as shown in bold in row 3, columns 3 and 4).
3) Path for configuring sessions:
This column shows, in shorthand form, the path for configuring sessions:
  • For all types of clients except the HTML-based Z and I Emulator for Web client, follow these steps to configure sessions from the Administration Utility:
    1. In the left pane of the Administration Utility, click Users/Groups.
    2. In the right pane, right-click the User or Group for which you want to configure sessions.
    3. Click Sessions.
  • For the HTML-based Z and I Emulator for Web client, follow these steps to configure sessions from the Deployment Wizard:
    1. On the Configuration Model page, verify that the HTML-based model is selected.
    2. Navigate to the Host Sessions page.
    3. Click Configure.
4) Path for disabling functions:
This column shows, in shorthand form, the path for navigating to the window used for disabling functions in the client:
  • For the HTML-based Z and I Emulator for Web client, follow these steps to disable functions from the Deployment Wizard:
    1. On the Configuration Model page, verify that the HTML-based model is selected.
    2. Navigate to the Host Sessions page.
    3. Click Disable Functions.
  • For the other three types of Z and I Emulator for Web clients, follow these steps to disable functions from the Administration Utility:
    1. In the left pane of the Administration Utility, click Users/Groups.
    2. In the right pane, right-click the User or Group for which you want to disable functions.
    3. Click Disable Functions.
  • For the Database On-Demand client:
    • Some functions are disabled in the Disable Functions window. Use the same path as described above for other clients.
    • Other functions are disabled in the Database On-Demand Group Options window or the Database On-Demand User Options window. Follow these steps to disable functions from the Administration Utility:
      1. In the left pane of the Administration Utility, click Users/Groups.
      2. In the right pane, right-click the User or Group for which you want to disable functions.
