Join the VersionVault UCM tutorial project.

About this task

To join the single-stream UCM project and create a VersionVault view:

Procedure

  1. In the VersionVault toolbar, click the join UCM project icon (Join Project) icon.
    The Join UCM Project wizard opens.
  2. On the Join a UCM Project page, complete the following steps:
    1. Click Connect to open the VersionVault WAN server dialog box and fill in your VersionVault server URL, your User Name, and Password. Select Store and reuse credentials if you want the server URL and user name to be stored and automatically populated in this dialog box each time you attempt to connect. Your password is stored for the current session only. You can hover over the VersionVault server URL field and the User Name field for typical examples. Click OK.
    2. Expand the server node and expand the Project VOBs node, then expanduser_name_ccrctut_pvob and select the ccrctut_proj project. Click Next.
  3. On the Set up a VersionVault UCM development environment, complete the following steps:
    1. Make sure that the Set up a Development stream option and theCreate a Development view option are both checked. The Stream name field is automatically populated with user_name_ccrctut_proj
    2. Note the view's name so that you can refer to it later. The default view tag (which you can change here if you want) is of the form user_name_ccrctut_proj.
    3. Make sure that the View Type is Web.
    4. Optionally, you can click View Options, set the line termination mode that your administrator requires, and click OK.
    5. Set the copy area path name:
      • If you have an area on your system that you normally use for VersionVault view storage, click the Browse button and select its root directory (for example, c:\views).
      • Otherwise, accept the path that appears in the field.
    6. Click Next.
  4. On the Create a VersionVault UCM integration view page, complete the following steps:
    1. Make sure that the View Type is Web.
    2. Note the view's name so that you can refer to it later. The default view tag (which you can change here if you want) is of the form user_name_ccrctut_proj_intg.
    3. Optionally, you can click View Options, set the line termination mode that your administrator requires, and click OK.
    4. Set the copy area path name:
      • If you have an area on your system that you normally use for VersionVault view storage, click the Browse button and select its root directory (for example, c:\views).
      • Otherwise, accept the path that appears in the field.
  5. Click Finish. The Edit Configuration dialog box opens.
  6. In the Edit Configuration dialog box, click Cancel. You will load the UCM tutorial VOB into your view in the next topic.
