Overview of triggers

A trigger is a monitor that causes one or more procedures or actions to be run whenever a certain HCL VersionVault operation is performed. Typically, the trigger runs a Perl, batch, or shell script. You can use triggers to restrict operations to specific users and to specify the conditions under which they can perform those operations.

In addition, you can use triggers on certain UCM operations to enforce customized development policies for your project team. You can create triggers and use them to implement various development policies in UCM projects. For additional information about trigger usage, see the cleartool mktrigger and mktrtype reference pages.
