ACL authorizationIf access control list (ACL) authorization is enabled, the identities and protection modes for some object types are administered through policies, which define permissions for roles; and rolemaps, which map the roles to principals.

Controlled objects

The following metatypes are directly controlled by rolemaps: VOB object, policy, rolemap, elements (directory and file).

Versions are controlled by the element's rolemap. For example, access to foo.c@@/main/newbranch/3 requires access be granted by the element ACL from foo.c@@'s rolemap.

A controlled object's rolemap is visible with cleartool describe object-selector.
