New features and changes

This section describes the new features and changes introduced in the 12.1.4 version of Unica Platform.

Upgrade Paths

Unica Platform supports the following upgrade paths:

  • 12.1.x → 12.1.4
  • 12.1.0.x → 12.1.4

Customers on versions earlier than 8.6.x must:

  • perform a Fast Upgrade from existing version to version 8.6.0 (for more information, see HCL Unica 8.6.0 Fast Upgrade Guide).
  • perform a Fast Upgrade from version 8.6.0 to version 12.1.0 (for more information, see HCL Unica 12.1.0 Fast Upgrade Guide).
  • perform an in-place upgrade from version 12.1.0 to version 12.1.4.

Customers on versions earlier than 11.1.x.x can:

  • perform a Fast Upgrade from existing version to version 12.1.0 (for more information, see HCL Unica 12.1.0 Fast Upgrade Guide).
  • perform an in-place upgrade from version 12.1.0 to version 12.1.4.

Customers on versions 11.1.x.x/12.0.x.x can use one of the following options for upgrade:

  • Option 1
    • perform an in-place upgrade from existing version to version 12.1.0.
    • perform an in-place upgrade from version 12.1.0 to version 12.1.4.
  • Option 2
    • perform a Fast Upgrade from existing version to version 12.1.0 (for more information, see HCL Unica 12.1.0 Fast Upgrade Guide).
    • perform an in-place upgrade from version 12.1.0 to verison 12.1.4.

New Navigation UI

Marketing Central (Technology Preview)

New Platform UI will have Marketing Central as home page. This screen has 3 sections:
  • Plan and Manage
  • Build and Execute
  • Analyze and Optimize

As per the roles and permissions of logged in user, all the existing menus are displayed as tiles under respective sections. On click of each tile user see existing page specific to that menu. There is left side navigation bar containing related menus. Header part will have Kitkat menu to show shortcut to all tiles available on the home page. A toggle button is present at the header section to switch back to old UI navigation.

Note: Unica has introduced Marketing Central in version 12.1.4 with new dashboard and navigation approach. Marketing Central is currently available as a Technology Preview Code (TPC / Tech Preview).

Technology Preview Code

Technology Preview Code ("TPC") may be included or distributed with the Program or updates to it but are not part of the Program. TPC is licensed under the same terms as the Program, except as provided below. TPC will be identified as such in the Notices File (or in an updated Notices File accompanying the updates). Some or all of the TPC may not be made generally available by HCL as or in a product. Licensee is permitted to use TPC only for internal use for evaluation purposes. REGARDLESS OF OTHER STATEMENTS MADE AT OR BEFORE THE TIME OF PURCHASE, IT IS LICENSEE'S RESPONSIBILITY TO DETERMINE IF THE PROGRAM IS APPROPRIATE OR SAFE FOR LICENSEE'S WEBSITE, WEB APPLICATION OR TECHNICAL ENVIRONMENT. LICENSEE ACKNOWLEDGES AND ACCEPTS ALL RISKS ASSOCIATED WITH THE USE OF THE PROGRAM. The Notices File or Evaluation Agreement may limit this evaluation use to an evaluation period. If so, at the end of such evaluation period Licensee must cease using and uninstall the TPC. HCL provides the TPC without obligation of support and "AS IS," WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING, WITHOUT LIMITATION, THE WARRANTY OF TITLE, NON-INFRINGEMENT OR NON-INTERFERENCE AND ANY IMPLIED WARRANTIES AND CONDITIONS OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE.

Licensee may not transfer TPC to another party except as a transfer accompanying the Program. TPC may contain a disabling device that will prevent it from being used after the evaluation period ends. Licensee will not tamper with this disabling device or the TPC. Licensee should take precautions to avoid any loss of data that might result when the TPC can no longer be used.
