Upgrading Plan
To upgrade Unica Plan, you back up your existing installation, ensure that Unica Platform is upgraded and running, run the installer, restore any trigger procedures, deploy the upgraded applications, and then run some post-deployment processes.

  - Upgrade Overview
    An upgrade of Unica Plan is complete when you upgrade, configure, and deploy Unica Plan. The Unica Plan Upgrade Guide provides detailed information about upgrading, configuring, and deploying Unica Plan.
  - Planning Plan upgrade
    For upgrading to Unica Plan 12.1.2 version, you must check from which version you are upgrading. Upgrade scenarios are based on the current version of the Unica Plan.
  - Upgrading Plan
    To upgrade Unica Plan, you back up your existing installation, ensure that Unica Platform is upgraded and running, run the installer, restore any trigger procedures, deploy the upgraded applications, and then run some post-deployment processes.
    - Backing up the system before you begin the upgrade
      Take a back up of your system before you start the upgrade process. If the upgrade fails, you can restore the last version of Unica Plan.
    - Running the installer and updating the configuration properties
      Before you run the installer, ensure that you have the appropriate database connection information for both the Unica Platform database and the Unica Plan database.
    - Configurations to be performed if upgrading from a version earlier than 12.0.0
      If you are upgrading from Unica Plan version earlier than 12.0.0, after the upgrade, there may be two Plan menus in Unica Platform: one menu with all the features of Plan and one with just the Checklist feature.
    - Upgrade your database manually
      The installer can upgrade the Unica Plan database during the upgrade process. Use the database setup utility, umodbsetup, to upgrade the tables manually if your company policy doesn't allow you to upgrade the database.
    - Deploying the upgraded web application and running the upgrade processes
      You must deploy the upgraded web applications to the web application server. After you deploy the web applications, you can start the upgrade process.
    - Verifying the Plan upgrade
      You must upgrade and deploy the Unica Platform before you upgrade Unica Plan.
    - Restoring trigger procedures
      You can restore trigger procedures after you upgrade the Unica Plan application.
    - Upgrading Plan in a clustered environment
      Use the following guidelines when you upgrade multiple instances of Unica Plan in a clustered environment:
  - Deploying Plan
    There are general guidelines for deploying Unica Plan on WebSphere® and WebLogic.
  - Uninstalling Unica Plan
    Run the Unica Plan uninstaller to uninstall Unica Plan. When you run the uninstaller, the files that were created during the installation process are removed. For example, files such as configuration files, installer registry information, and user data are removed from the computer.
  - The configTool utility
    The properties and values on the Configuration page are stored in the Unica Platform system tables. You can use the configTool utility to import and export configuration settings to and from the system tables.
  - Plan configuration properties
    The Unica Plan configuration properties on available on the Settings > Configuration page. For more details on the configuration properties, see the Plan Administrator Guide.

Restoring trigger procedures

You can restore trigger procedures after you upgrade the Unica Plan application.

Complete the following steps to restore the trigger procedures:

Procedure

Restore the procedures and the procedure_plugins.xml file from the backup you made earlier. Put them in the default location for the files:
<Plan_Home>\devkits\integration\examples\src\procedure
If necessary, rebuild the integration services procedures using the build file located in the <Plan_Home>\devkits\integration\examples\build directory under your Unica Plan installation.
Update the following parameters on the Settings > Configuration > Plan > umoConfiguration > attachmentFolders page. Set the values to point to the directories you created in the previous step.
- Set graphicalRefUploadDir to <Plan_Home>\graphicalrefimages
- Set templateImageDir to <Plan_Home>\images
- Set recentDataDir to <Plan_Home>\recentdata
- Set workingAreaDir to <Plan_Home>\umotemp
