Template types and requirements

Marketers can create various types of personalized messages and landing pages. The different types of communications require different types of templates.

In Deliver, you use templates to create the following types of marketing communications.

  • HTML email
  • Text-only email
  • Landing pages linked to personalized email messages
  • Landing pages used as online forms, including submission pages

The design and content of the template can differ, depending on the type of communication required.

For example, landing pages defined as online forms must contain the <form> tag, including the name attribute. However, a template used to create an email message would not include tags for forms, but might contain tags used to define personalization fields and zones in the Deliver Message Editor. An email message might also need to include static text required for compliance with CAN-SPAM regulations.
