Common HCL Traveler user tasks
There are many tasks that are common to HCL Traveler, regardless of the device you are using.
Adding external calendars to your HCL Notes® calendar
You can add an external calendar to your Notes® calendar and select the View this calendar when offline or on a mobile device option. HCL Traveler can then sync the external calendar events to your device that have been saved for offline or mobile viewing.

- Common HCL Traveler user tasks
  There are many tasks that are common to HCL Traveler, regardless of the device you are using.
  - Adding external calendars to your HCL Notes® calendar
    You can add an external calendar to your Notes® calendar and select the View this calendar when offline or on a mobile device option. HCL Traveler can then sync the external calendar events to your device that have been saved for offline or mobile viewing.
  - Enabling contacts sync for your mobile device
    To sync your local contacts file (names.nsf) with the contacts on your device, you must first verify that you have sync enabled between your local contacts file and mail file using your HCL Notes® client.
  - Syncing trash between platforms
    With versions of HCL Traveler 9.0.1.3 and later, you can delete mail messages from your mobile device, the HCL Notes client, or HCL iNotes® , and then find these messages in the Trash folder on your mobile device. Restoring these messages from the Trash folder on your device will also restore them to their original folders on the other platforms, and emptying the trash on your device will also empty it on the other platforms as well.

- Using an Apple device FAQ
  There is no client software to install to use HCL Traveler on Apple devices. However, you must create an account on your device for mail, calendar, and contacts before you can connect to the HCL Traveler server.
- Using a BlackBerry device FAQ
  There is no client software to install to use HCL Traveler on BlackBerry devices. However, you must create an account on your device for mail, calendar, and contacts before you can connect to the HCL Traveler server.
- Using a Windows™ Phone device FAQ
  There is no client software to install to use HCL Traveler on Windows™ Phone devices. However, you must create an account on your device for mail, calendar, and contacts before you can connect to the HCL Traveler server.
- Using a Windows™ tablet device FAQ
  HCL Traveler provides support for Windows™ tablet devices, such as Windows RT and Windows Pro.
- Using an Android device Frequently Asked Questions
  Traveler for Android devices is now HCL Verse for Android devices.

Adding external calendars to your HCL Notes® calendar

You can add an external calendar to your Notes® calendar and select the View this calendar when offline or on a mobile device option. HCL Traveler can then sync the external calendar events to your device that have been saved for offline or mobile viewing.

Important: Only external calendars, such as Google, can be synced to your device. A limitation prevents the ability to sync other HCL Notes® users' calendars. For more information, see the topic on adding calendars in the HCL Notes help..

Since these calendar events are designed to be read-only, any changes made on the device cannot be synced to the server.
