Feature Pack 1: What's new

Sametime 9.0.1 Feature Pack 1 includes the following changes:
  • TLSv1.2 is now supported. Note that you cannot enable TLSv1.2 until after updating to FP1.
  • RHEL 7 is now supported (except for the Video Manager and Video MCU components of the Sametime Media Manager).
  • V8.5.5.11 is now the minimum version of WebSphere Application Server (later versions are supported). Note that Java V6 is still required by Sametime, so do not update to Java 8.

V9.0.1: What's new for administrators

In Sametime 9.0.1, the following modifications and features were added to Sametime Communicate, Conference, and Complete offerings:
  • Directories: Starting in V9.0.1, the native IBM Domino® Directory is not supported for user management.

If you use an IBM Domino Directory, you must convert it to LDAP format for use with Sametime. For information, see Replacing the Domino Directory with an LDAP directory in the Sametime wiki.

  • Starting in V9.0.1, Sametime Limited Use is not provided. Use the Sametime 9.0 Limited Use license instead.
  • Live Update: Enable the Live Update feature to allow Sametime Connect Client users to automatically update their Sametime clients. For more information about setting up the Live Update feature, see the topic Configuring Live Update.
  • Integration with SharePoint Server 2013: Integrate Sametime with Microsoft™ Office SharePoint Server to extend collaboration capabilities by providing awareness and instant messaging between Sametime users who are using an Office SharePoint site. For information about setting up Sametime integration with SharePoint Server 2013, see the topic Setting up Office SharePoint integration.
  • Preconfigured configuration keys for the Sametime Meeting Server: Use any of the eight new preconfigured configuration keys to customize your Sametime Meeting Server. For information about the individual configuration keys, see the topic Customizing the Sametime Meeting Server configuration.
  • First Party Call Control: FPCC allows users to access a third-party SIP server directly from their Sametime Connect and Embedded clients to make audio and video calls using the same menu options as for other calls. Note that Sametime does not support the use of both FPCC and Sametime Unified Telephony; if you previously enabled Sametime Unified Telephony, then you must disable it before enabling FPCC. For information on configuring FPCC for users, see Deploying First Party Call Control.
