Cleaning your system after uninstalling Sametime servers

After uninstalling IBM® Sametime® from a WebSphere-based server, clean out the unused directories to prepare for reinstalling Sametime successfully.

About this task

To assist with logging, Installation Manager leaves some directories intact after uninstallation. You must remove these directories after uninstallation if you plan to reinstall Sametime. Otherwise, the reinstallation process will fail. To verify which directories need to be removed, open the Installation Manager log file at Install_manager_root/

Procedure

  1. Log on as root (AIX® or Linux™) or as the system administrator (Windows™).
  2. From a command shell window or Windows Explorer, navigate to the /opt/IBM directory or the equivalent top directory of your WebSphere® Application Server installation.
  3. Remove the Sametime server directory for the product you uninstalled. Do not remove installation root directories for products that you intend to keep.

    AIX and Linux

Remove WebSphere Application Server directories with the following command, replacing was_install_root with the Sametime server directories you want to remove.

    rm -rf was_install_root

    Windows

Delete the installation root directory for the Sametime server you uninstalled.

  4. Remove the profile directories.

Locate all of the profile directories and delete the directories if they were located outside of the was_install_root directory.

  5. (Linux) If you uninstalled Video Manager and solidDB®, also remove the solidDB directory.

    /opt/solidDB
