Securing connections for HTTP access services

You can configure Transport Layer Security (TLS) to encrypt communications between HTTP access services and other nodes.

About this task

HTTP access services exchange data with remote clients on the external network and with application servers on the internal network. Although, HTTP access services are configured by default to require remote clients to use TLS, you must complete several tasks to install the X.509 certificates that you need to complete the TLS configuration.

By default, connections between an HTTP access service and internal application servers do not use TLS. Whether or not these connections use TLS depends on the configuration of the internal application server. If TLS is required, HTTP access services provide an easy method for trusting certificates from internal application servers.
