Installing
In this section, you will learn about two ways to install the product. In the first approach, you use an executable file to directly install the product in an easy manner. In the second approach, you download and install IBM® Installation Manager and then use that tool to install the product.

Installing the product on Linux

To get started with desktop clients on Linux, install the product in the GUI mode by using the stand-alone installer.

Before you begin

You must have uninstalled any older version of this product.
You must have installed konsole on your computer. This is required to enable the short cut icon of the product after installation.
Note: You can install konsole by entering the following command in the terminal: apt-get install konsole
You must have installed OpenJDK 8 along with JVM OpenJ9. To download them, go to the AdoptOpenJDK portal.
To install Rational® Functional Tester on Red Hat Linux Enterprise (RHEL) 8.0 and later, you must have completed one of the following tasks:
- Installed libnsl.so.1 on your computer
- Created a soft link to libnsl.so.2 by running the following command:sudo ln -s /usr/lib64/libnsl.so.2 /usr/lib64/libnsl.so

About this task

The system requirements mentioned in the HCL Support portal provides more information about the software and hardware requirements. You cannot update, modify, or roll back by using the product installer.

Procedure

Download the product installer from the HCL® License & Delivery portal. You can download the appropriate product variant, version, and architecture based on your requirements.

Note: If you want to install both Rational® Functional Tester and Rational® Performance Tester on your computer, you can install the products by using a single shell-shared HCL OneTest UI and Performance installer available in the HCL portal.
Log in as a root user and extract the zip file by entering the following command: unzip <filename>
On the Introduction screen, read through the details, and click Next.
Read the license agreement carefully, select the I accept check box and then click Next.
Browse the location or directory where you want to install the product and click Next.

Note: The default installation directory is /opt/HCL.
Read through the installation details and click Install.
After the installation is complete, click Done.

What to do next

You must enter the license key when you launch the product.
