Creating Jira issues for tests that ran

You can create Jira issues for the tests that ran in . The issues are created in the project in Jira that you configured in .

Before you begin

About this task

When you want to create a Jira issue in , the issue types that display in the Create an issue in Jira dialog depend on the configuration done by the administrator of the Jira server.

The default fields that display on the Create an issue in Jira dialog are as follows:
  • Issue Type
  • Summary
  • Description

If you want to view any additional fields in the Create an issue in Jira dialog from , then you must inform your Jira server administrator to configure those additional fields as the required fields in the project on the Jira server. You can then use those fields in the Create an issue in Jira dialog when you create a defect from .

Procedure





  1. Select the step that depends on the role assigned to you in the project on :
    • If you are a member with role assigned as Owner, go to Step 6.
    • If you are a member with role assigned as Tester and not completed the one-time authorization process, go to Step 7.
    • If you are a member with role assigned as Tester and completed the one-time authorization process, go to Step 8.
  2. Perform the following steps as the project Owner:
    1. Click the Jira: Create a Jira issue icon Raise Jira defect icon that is under the Actions column in the row of the test.

      Alternatively, you can click the test under the Test column to view the results panel, and then click the Jira: Create a Jira issue icon Raise Jira defect icon that is displayed in the panel.

    2. Select the issue type that you want to create in the Create an issue in Jira dialog, and then click Create.
      The issue is created in the project on the Jira server and the link to the issue is displayed in the Results panel of the test on .
      Note: You can create multiple issues for the same test result, if you want.

      You created an issue in Jira. You can go to Results.

  3. Perform the following steps as a member assigned the Tester role and if you have not yet completed the one-time authorization process:
    Note: You must complete the one-time authorization process if you are not a project owner.

    1. Click the URL of the Jira server in the Configure Jira server to authorize the application dialog that is displayed.
    2. Log in to the Jira server account with your valid credentials.
      Note: The Login page is displayed only if you are not already logged in to the Jira server.
    3. Read the message that is displayed, and then click Allow to authorize the Jira server account.

      After the authorization is successful, the Access Approved page is displayed with a verification code.

    4. Copy the verification code, and then enter the verification code in the field on the Configure Jira server to authorize the application dialog of .
    5. Click Save.

  4. Perform the following steps as a member assigned the Tester role and completed the one-time authorization process:


Results

You have created issues in the Jira project for the test results from .

The Jira issues are created in the Jira project and the links to the issues are displayed in the Details panel of the test result on the Results page.

What to do next

You can click the test result on the Results page to view the Jira issue key link. You can then click the Jira issue key link to open the issue and view the details of the issue in Jira.
