Extending HCL OneDB™Beyond standard relational database objects, HCL OneDB™ can be extended to handle specialized data types, access methods, routines, and other objects. Informix® includes many built-in extensions that are fully integrated in the database server. Informix® also provides DataBlade® modules, which are packages of extended database objects for a particular purpose and that are installed separately from the database server. Alternatively, you can create your own user-defined objects for Informix®.
Creating extensionsYou can create user-defined data types, routines, access methods, and other database objects to suit your needs. You can use application programming interfaces to write user-defined routines and applications that access data in HCL OneDB™ databases.

HCL OneDB Web DataBlade Module

The HCL OneDB™ Web DataBlade Module enables you to create web applications that incorporate data retrieved dynamically from an HCL OneDB database.

Using the OneDB Web DataBlade® module, you do not need to develop a Common Gateway Interface (CGI) application to dynamically access database data. Instead, you create HTML pages that include OneDB Web DataBlade module tags and functions that dynamically execute the SQL statements you specify and format the results. These pages are called application pages (AppPages). The types of data you retrieve can include traditional data types, HTML, image, audio, and video data.
