Extending HCL OneDB™Beyond standard relational database objects, HCL OneDB™ can be extended to handle specialized data types, access methods, routines, and other objects. Informix® includes many built-in extensions that are fully integrated in the database server. Informix® also provides DataBlade® modules, which are packages of extended database objects for a particular purpose and that are installed separately from the database server. Alternatively, you can create your own user-defined objects for Informix®.

Basic Text SearchYou can perform basic text searching for words and phrases in a document repository stored in a column of a table.
Basic text search queriesYou run basic text search queries with the bts_contains() search predicate.
Boolean operatorsBoolean operators combine terms in logical combinations. You can use the operators AND, OR, and NOT, or their equivalent special characters, in the bts_contains() search predicate.
NOT operatorUse the NOT Boolean operator in combination with the AND operator (or its equivalent symbols) when you want to search for documents that do not contain a specified term or phrase.

Use the NOT Boolean operator in combination with the AND operator (or its equivalent symbols) when you want to search for documents that do not contain a specified term or phrase.

The NOT operator can also be denoted with an exclamation point (!) or with a minus sign (-).

The following search predicates find documents that contain the term UNIX, but not the term Windows:

bts_contains(column, ' UNIX AND NOT Windows ')

bts_contains(column, ' UNIX AND !Windows ')

bts_contains(column, ' +UNIX -Windows ')

The minus sign (-) can be used with the plus sign (+), but not with the AND operator.
