Configuring Domino mail server settings

Recommended settings for the mail servers

For servers running v11.0.1 or below, set the Notes.ini described in this topic (for servers running 12.0 or above, this is already the default behavior).

To ensure calendar interoperability between the HCL Traveler for Microsoft Outlook client (HTMO) with external event organizers, it is recommended that the following notes.ini be set on all mail servers, including the Traveler server(s):

An example scenario that this setting is intended to address:
  1. In Gmail (Google) Calendar, create a new meeting and invite an HTMO user.
  2. From the HTMO client, accept the meeting. An acceptance notification is sent.
  3. The Gmail user never receives the acceptance notice, and the invitee's status is still appears as "Waiting" on the Google calendar

If all servers are not running Domino® release 9.0.1 or higher, there is a remote potential to have rescheduled calendar entries from external meeting organizers appear as invitations. This happens if the original invitation arrives on a 9.0.1 (or higher) mail server yet the reschedule notice is delivered to a mail server running a version earlier than Domino® 9.0.1.
