Specify the default database server

For your Informix® ESQL/C application to communicate with any database server, you must set the INFORMIXSERVER environment variable to specify the name of the default database server. Therefore, the name of the default database server must exist in the sqlhosts file and sqlhosts must exist on the computer that runs the application.
