Extending Informix®Beyond standard relational database objects, HCL Informix® can be extended to handle specialized data types, access methods, routines, and other objects. Informix® includes many built-in extensions that are fully integrated in the database server. Informix® also provides DataBlade® modules, which are packages of extended database objects for a particular purpose and that are installed separately from the database server. Alternatively, you can create your own user-defined objects for Informix®.
Creating extensionsYou can create user-defined data types, routines, access methods, and other database objects to suit your needs. You can use application programming interfaces to write user-defined routines and applications that access data in Informix® databases.

About this task

You can test the success of the IPoint interface by testing the Circle DataBlade® module.

To run the Circle DataBlade module:

Procedure

Open the Circle project in Visual C++.
Open the Contains.sql file.
With the Contains.sql file as the active window in Visual C++, click the Debug DataBlade Module button on the add-in toolbar.
In the Executable For Debug Session dialog box, type or use the Browse button to select %INFORMIXDIR%\bin\oninit.exe, where %INFORMIXDIR% is the environment variable that represents the root directory of your HCL Informix® server installation.
Click OK.
When the dialog box appears warning that oninit.exe does not have debugging information, click OK.

Results

IfxQuery displays the results of your SQL statements in an HTML file.
