Removing servers from the DDM server collection hierarchy

When removing servers from a DDM collection hierarchy, the removal list includes only servers that are directly subordinate to the selected server. The list of servers does not include servers that are subordinate to the subordinate servers. The first step in deleting a server from the DDM collection hierarchy is to select the parent (collection) server of the subordinate servers to be deleted from the hierarchy. You can then remove one or more subordinate servers from that hierarchy.

About this task

You need to be aware of the following information pertaining to removing servers from a DDM server collection hierarchy:

  • If you remove a "root" collection server, all subordinate servers are also removed. A root collection server collects from all other servers in the hierarchy. All servers in the server collection hierarchy are subordinate to the root collection server.
  • If you select a subordinate server that has no subordinate servers assigned to it, you can only remove the selected subordinate server because there are no other servers to remove.
  • If you select a subordinate server that has subordinate servers assigned to it, you have the option to remove the subordinate server you selected and all servers subordinate to the selected server, or you can specify which servers to remove that are subordinate to the selected server.

Use this procedure to remove one or more servers from a server collection hierarchy.

Procedure

  1. From the Domino® Administrator, click Files.
  2. Select and then open the Monitoring Configuration database (EVENTS4.NSF).
  3. Choose Server Collection Hierarchy. Verify that the selected hierarchy is the one with which you want to work. If it is not the correct server collection hierarchy, choose another.
  4. Click the name of the server that you want to remove from the server collection hierarchy. Depending on the selected server's place in the hierarchy, one or both of these options are available. Choose one:
    • Remove subordinate servers from Server Name.
    • Remove Server Name from the server collection hierarchy.
  5. Click OK.
