        HCL Domino® 11.0.1 includes a Docker-compatible Red Hat Universal Base Image (UBI) of Domino that is part of your entitlement and available for download through the HCL Licensing Portal. HCL Domino 11.0.1 is pre-installed on this image, allowing you to deploy Domino servers as containers with just a few commands.

        The first step in deploying a Domino® server is installation, or copying the program files to the system's local drive.

        Concurrent I/O (CIO) and Direct I/O (DIO) are not supported with Domino® servers. CIO is a file system feature introduced in IBM® AIX® 5.2.0.10, also known as maintenance level 01, in the Enhanced Journaling File system (JFS2). This feature improves performance for relational databases.

        The Domino® server setup program guides you through the choices you make to configure a Domino server. Setting up the first Domino server in a domain establishes a framework that consists of the Domino Directory, ID files, and documents. When you set up additional servers, you build upon this framework.

Using instant messaging in the Domino® Directory

The Domino® Directory is enabled for instant messaging, meaning that you can conduct an online chat directly from the Domino® Directory.

The instant messaging Chat feature is available only if you have a HCL Sametime® server, and only for Microsoft™ Windows™ versions of Domino® and Notes®.

From the People document, Group document, and from the Domino® Directory itself there is a Chat option in the menu bar. Click Chat and choose from the following options:

Chat with -- Open a chat with the person whose name is currently selected in the open document or directory.
Add to Instant Contact List -- Add the selected person's name to an instant messaging contact list that you choose.
Show/Hide Contact List -- Toggles between displaying the names in the contact list and hiding the list.
