Creating a Symphony settings document

Use the Symphony™ Settings document to define whether users can use IBM® Lotus® Symphony and to designate which files and templates they can use. Symphony policy settings are not supported for IBM Notes® 9.0 Social Edition. However, you can create Symphony settings for users who have versions of IBM Lotus Notes® prior to 9.0.

Before you begin

Make sure that you have Editor access to the IBM Lotus Domino® Directory and one of these roles:
  • PolicyCreator role to create a settings document
  • PolicyModifier role to modify a settings document

About this task

Lotus Symphony consists of the Lotus Symphony Presentations editor, Lotus Symphony Documents word processing editor, and Lotus Symphony Spreadsheets editor. These tools enable users to create presentations, rich text documents, and spreadsheets using the OpenDocument Format (ODF). Import and export filters support the Microsoft™ Office and OpenDocument (ODF) formats.

Users can optionally install the Symphony editors during Notes installation. They can open the editors using the Symphony shortcuts on their desktop or by opening an ODF format file.

Note: Symphony policy settings are not supported by IBM Lotus iNotes®.
