Using Domino® Designer with XPages in Bluemix

IBM® Domino® Designer is designed to work with IBM® Bluemix, the cloud-based application development environment.

Bluemix is an implementation of IBM's Open Cloud Architecture, based on Cloud Foundry, that lets you create, deploy, and manage your cloud applications. Because Bluemix is based on Cloud Foundry, you can use a varied collection of runtime frameworks and services - which now include a runtime and service that takes advantage of XPages technology and works with Domino® Designer.

Bluemix provides a dashboard for you to create, view, and manage your cloud-based XPages applications and services as well as monitor your application's resource usage. The Bluemix dashboard also provides the ability to manage organizations, spaces, and user access.

To take advantage of Designer, XPages, and Bluemix technologies, you are able to do the following from the Bluemix Dashboard.

  • Create a starter cloud based XPages application that uses the IBM® XPages NoSQL Database for Bluemix service and the IBM® XPages for Bluemix runtime
  • Create your starter XPages application in the cloud and make changes to it locally using Domino® Designer
  • Create an XPages application locally using Domino® Designer and deploy it to Bluemix to create a cloud-based application
