Configuring the HCL Web Content Manager plug-in for Watson Content Hub
You can configure a new plug-in, the HCL Web Content Manager plug-in for Watson Content Hub, and integrate Web Content Manager as a Digital Asset Manager service. This plug-in allows assets that are stored in Watson Content Hub to be used in the context of Web Content Manager and presented through Web Content Manager pages. The rendering of these resources uses the Content Delivery Network that comes with Watson Content Hub.

  - Installing
    HCL Digital Experience provides flexible deployment options that range from proof-of-concept where you can examine and test functionality to a highly available and scalable production environment. Review the planning information to learn more about hardware and software requirements, high availability, scalability, supported topologies, and much more. Select your operating system and then select the installation pattern that most reflects your business needs.
  - Configuring
    Run the following tasks after you install and deploy HCL Digital Experience. They address tasks that are typically run one time and have a global effect. Some configuration changes are made more frequently or do not have a global effect. These tasks are addressed in the Administering section.

    Backup and recovery of data files and databases is an essential operation for any business system, particularly for data and applications that run in production environments. Create and follow a plan for backing up and recovering data on all tiers of your HCL Digital Experience deployment. IBM Installation Manager must also be included in backup and recovery planning. If you back up the HCL Portal file structure and then install a fix pack, your HCL Digital Experience and IBM Installation Manager become out of sync after you restore the HCL Portal file system. This condition is not recoverable.

        HCL Digital Experience Version 9 enables the user to integrate with Watson Content Hub. You can use the extra features in Version 9 to extend Watson Content Hub with the JSON rendering plug-in. Assets that are stored in Watson Content Hub might have extra attributes in the metadata that are accessible to portal. The JSON rendering plug-in allows the user to access these attributes and enable custom configurations in HCL Portal.
      - Removing Watson Content Hub from a Virtual Portal
        You can remove the Watson Content Hub integration from a virtual portal. You must run the task on each virtual portal that you ran the setup-ch-integ-vp task on.

      The Web Application Bridge uses reverse proxy technology to integrate web-based content providers, such as the Microsoft SharePoint server, with HCL Digital Experience. Administrators must first define the virtual web applications or content providers. A lightweight iFrame portlet renders the content from the backend applications. Users can then access the iFrame on a page without requiring direct network access to the backend application. A special engine maps Uniform Resource Identifier (URIs) on the iFrame portlet to real URIs from the content providers.

      You can use HCL Integrator for SAP to integrate content from an SAP NetWeaver Portal into your HCL Digital Experience. You can integrate navigational structures and single content pieces.

  - Administering
    Use the administration tools that are provided with the portal to do various day-to-day administration tasks. There are two methods for editing portal setup: using the administration portlets or the XML configuration interface. The administration portlets are a convenient way to make real-time updates to the portal's configuration. While the XML configuration interface is suited to more advanced administration, including batch processing of updates.
  - Securing
    Security tasks include setting up property extension databases and custom user repositories, configuring and activating SSL, and configuring authentication. In addition, tasks such as activating Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS) and NIST SP800-131a security modules and configuring external security managers such as Security Access Manager might be required to secure your portal environment.

    HCL Portal includes tools and features to help you monitor the portal site.

    Setting up a website includes, creating pages, adding navigation, setting up search, and adding content to the site. Themes are used to customize the portal's look-and-feel. Out-of-the-box templates and the site wizard can help you set up your portal site faster. You can add wikis and blogs to your site and let users tag and rate content on your site.

    During portal solution development, the solution is initially developed, tested, and refined on one server or a limited number of servers. The solution is deployed later on live systems, referred to as the production environment. Functions for Web Content Authors using the Web Content Manager plug-in for Watson Content Hub | HCL Digital Experience

After you configure the plug-in, you can add Watson Content Hub assets to HCL Web Content Manager.

Procedure

Log into HCL Digital Experience.
Go to Open applications menu > Content.
Go to the Web Content Authoring tab.
Perform the following steps to create an image component:
1. Go to New > Component > Image.
2. Enter information about the image.
3. Select Watson Content Hub as the Digital asset source.
4. Select the image from Watson Content Hub.
5. Save your changes.
Perform the following steps to create a file component:
1. Go to New > Component > File.
2. Enter information about the file.
3. Select Watson Content Hub as the Digital asset source.
4. Select the file from Watson Content Hub.
5. Save your changes.
Perform the following steps to create a file component that contains a video:

Limitation: Cue points are not used for Watson Content Hub videos.
1. Go to New > Component > File.
2. Enter information about the file.
3. Select Watson Content Hub as the Digital asset source.
4. Select the video from Watson Content Hub.
5. Save your changes.
Perform the following steps to add an image to a rich text or HTML field:
1. Click Insert Image.
2. Select Watson Content Hub as the Digital asset source.
3. Select the image from Watson Content Hub.
4. Save your changes.
Perform the following steps to preselect Watson Content Hub as the digital asset source in the authoring template for image and file elements:
1. Open the edit form of an authoring template.
2. Select the Default Content tab.
3. Open the properties section of the image or file element.
4. Select Watson Content Hub as the Digital asset source.
5. Optional: Select Show digital asset source to make the asset source selector visible in the content edit form.
Note: You can also add Watson Content Hub assets to Web Content Manager pages with the in-place editing feature for images, files, HTML, or rich text elements.
