You can integrate HCL Connections applications with other products and features.
Connections Engagement Center
Connections Engagement Center provides the corporate office, management, and workforce with a single user experience for all communications, as well as a state of the art enterprise social collaboration features and the possibility of adding custom applications. All this runs at the office and on all mobile devices, so the entire workforce – from CEO to intern – can access this most valuable tool regardless of where they are, what their role is, or what devices they prefer.
Installing and configuring Connections Engagement Center
This section provides instructions for upgrading an existing XCC Web Content Management Extension to the Connections Engagement Center. For fresh installations, instructions are provided for planning, creating a database, installing, and then configuring the Engagement Center. Also included are browser links to access the various modes of Connections Engagement Center, and instructions for uninstalling Connections Engagement Center.
Configuring
Configure context roots, paths, themes, backups, and modes of access. Add a link to the navigation bar, include a birthday widget, and customize labels for languages. You can personalize widgets, edit the HCL Connections proxy configuration for the iFrame widget and Clipping, configure the landing page, rebuild the search index, import and export XML files, and configure for Internet Explorer compatibility mode.

Configure Connections Engagement Center for On Premises, Flyout, Community, Anonymous, or Mobile modes.
Community on-premises mode configuration
To use the Engagement Center's Community iwidget for HCL Connections on-premises editions, perform the following steps.
Registering with the Widget Container on the Homepage
When configuring the Engagement Center for Community mode in HCL Connections, you must register the Connections Engagement Center to the HCL Connections homepage. This procedure is required for HCL Connections 6.0.0 only.

- Connections Engagement Center

  - Overview
    Connections Engagement Center is a single, accessible hub for organizational news and content within HCL Connections, enabling users to create and manage web content efficiently. People get engaged with finding, creating, owning, and promoting content to improve intranet communication. All content can be found in one place. Communication and collaboration are on the same page or one click away. Connections Engagement Center makes it simple and easy for users to create content; there's no need for multiple systems to create and publish content. This documentation explains and describes role concepts, site structure, functions of the various Connections Engagement Center features and their usage and configuration.
  - Installing and configuring Connections Engagement Center
    This section provides instructions for upgrading an existing XCC Web Content Management Extension to the Connections Engagement Center. For fresh installations, instructions are provided for planning, creating a database, installing, and then configuring the Engagement Center.     - Upgrading
      The following instructions guide you as you upgrade from XCC to Connections Engagement Center, or upgrade Connections Engagement Center itself to a newer version.
    - Planning
      Consider the system requirements, including which versions of Connections are supported, browser requirements, and modes of operations suitable for your environment and requirements.
    - Creating a database
      Connections Engagement Center provides SQL scripts to create a database. Before you begin, download and extract the installation files to a local directory such as /opt/software/XCC-Installer. Then follow the instructions in this section for creating a database using DB2, MSSQL, or Oracle.
    - Installing
      The Connections Engagement Center Application can be installed on WebSphere Application Server as well as on a WebSphere Application Server cluster. If you want to have Connections Engagement Center logs separated from other HCL Connections logs, create a new WebSphere Application Server.
    - Configuring
      Configure context roots, paths, themes, backups, and modes of access. Add a link to the navigation bar, include a birthday widget, and customize labels for languages.       - General configuration
        After installing Connections Engagement Center you will see a configuration page. Here you can set up Connections Engagement Center configurations in your browser. If you want to make changes later, you can open the configuration page manually https://<your_server>/xcc/admin and edit your settings.

        Configure Connections Engagement Center for On Premises, Flyout, Community, Anonymous, or Mobile modes.
        Anonymous mode configuration
        If you want some HCL Connections™ Engagement Center pages to be accessed anonymously, configure those pages as public.
        Community on-premises mode configuration
        To use the Engagement Center's Community iwidget for HCL Connections on-premises editions, perform the following steps.
        Updating the widgets-config.xml file
        Update the Engagement Center's widgets-config.xml file with the settings needed for HCL Connections.
        Updating the LotusConnections-config.xml file
        Edit the LotusConnectionsConfig.xml file to add the Connections Engagement Center widget bundle.
        Creating string properties files
        Create property files to contain translated strings for when HCL Connections Engagement Center is used in other languages.
        Registering with the Widget Container on the Homepage
        When configuring the Engagement Center for Community mode in HCL Connections, you must register the Connections Engagement Center to the HCL Connections homepage. This procedure is required for HCL Connections 6.0.0 only.
        Publishing the community configuration
        Publish the community mode configuration to all servers by executing a script to clear widget caches and synchronize nodes. Then restart all servers.
        Flyout mode configuration
        To integrate the Connections Engagement Center into the Connections top navigation bar, configure a custom drop menu in the header.jsp in the <CUSTOMIZATION_DIR/>.
        Mobile mode configuration
        To integrate Connections Engagement Center in the Connections mobile app, configure the mobile-config.xml file on the Deployment Manager.
      - Changing the name of the LTPA cookie (optional)
        The default LTPA cookie name is LTPAToken2. However, if you changed the name of the cookie when you configured HCL Connections, you must update HCL Connections Engagement Center with the new LTPA cookie name.
      - Adding a link to the HCL Connections navigation bar
      - People Birthday widget
        For the people birthday widget it is necessary to modify your HCL Connections Profiles configuration.
      - Customize labels for languages
        You can customize Connections Engagement Center labels for all languages that are supported by HCL Connections.
      - Edit personalization attributes
        You can change the personalization attributes to increase the usability for the Page Editor. You can reduce the number of personalization attributes, change the display name in the widget edit mode, and change the order of the attributes.
      - HCL Connections proxy configuration
        For the Clipping, IFrame, and ATOM/RSS Feed widgets it is necessary to configure the Connections Ajax proxy. Start the wsadmin client by completing the following steps (the following example is for a windows server, for other operating systems please refer to the IBM documentation).
      - Landing page configuration
        If you want to redirect all requests for the server root (https://<your_server>/) to Connections Engagement Center, you may use the following template for addition / modification of your httpd.conf file. Please adjust this template according to your specific needs.
      - Rebuilding the search index of HCL Connections
        Connections Engagement Center is using HCL Connections API's heavily for its operation. This requires the HCL Connections search index to be intact and operating well.
      - Import and export of XML files
        It is possible to import and export Connections Engagement Center page configurations to and from XML files. This feature allows you to switch between different databases or to make a backup of your Connections Engagement Center database.
      - Internet Explorer compatibility mode
        To activate the Internet Explorer compatibility mode, two custom properties can be set in the Admin Dashboard.
    - Debugging
      Debug any page by first enabling debugging and then appending a parameter to any Connections Engagement Center URL.

    - Uninstalling
      The procedure to follow when uninstalling Connections Engagement Center depends on which Connections 6.0 critical release you have updated to.

Registering the Engagement Center to the Widget Container on the Homepage

When configuring the Engagement Center for Community mode in HCL Connections, you must register the Connections Engagement Center to the HCL Connections homepage. This procedure is required for HCL Connections 6.0.0 only.

Procedure

Refer to the following topic to register the Engagement Center to the Widget Container: Administering gadgets for HCL Connections and widgets for Home page. Be sure to follow the remaining steps here for guidance.
The URL Address and the Secure URL Address should look like the following URL, edited to include your host name:

Icon URL and Secure Icon URL are optional.
Select Display in the My Page view.
Select Display in the Updates view.
In the Prerequisites area, select communities.
