Move a subcommunity from one parent community to another

Moving subcommunities from one parent community to another is good way to categorize and reorganize your subcommunities.

Procedure

  1. Open the subcommunity that you want to move.
  2. From the Overview page, select Community Actions > Move Community.
  3. Select Make this a subcommunity of: and type the name of the intended parent community. Select a community from the type-ahead list that displays and click Move.
  4. If required, confirm that you want to add the members or owners, and click Move again, the subcommunity is now a child community of the community you specified.
  5. If you change your mind later, you can make the subcommunity a top-level community:
    1. Open the subcommunity.
    2. From the Overview page, select Community Actions > Move Community
    3. Select Make this a top level community > Move.

Results

A subcommunity cannot be less restrictive than its parent. Therefore, when you move a community, the access level of the community that is being moved can be modified as shown in table 1.
