Migrating and updating
Migrate IBM® Connections and its supporting software to the latest release and then update the installation with the latest interim fixes or Cumulative Refresh (CR).
Migrating to IBM® Connections 6.0
Migrate an installation of HCL Connections™ 5.0 or 5.5 to Connections 6.0. For any version of Connections before version 5.0, you must migrate to version 5.0 before you migrate to version 6.0.
Before installing
Verify that all necessary prerequisite conditions are complete before installing IBM® Connections.

      Migrate data from your HCL Connections™ 5.0 or 5.5 databases and update the schemas to the most recent IBM® Connections 6.0 level.
    - Uninstalling a deployment before migration
      If you migrate HCL Connections™ using the same hardware that you used for the previous release, known as an in-place migration, you must uninstall the earlier version of Connections before you migrate to the new release. You must also uninstall the Cognos® Business Intelligence server if it is installed. If you are migrating to Connections 6.0 side-by-side with your current deployment, you do not need to complete this task.

        Linux™ libraries that are required for deploying IBM® Connections.
      - AIX® libraries
        IBM Installation Manager requires additional 64-bit AIX® libraries to support the graphical user interface in an IBM® Connections deployment.
    - Installing HCL Connections 6
      Install HCL Connections.
    - Importing application artifacts to IBM® Connections 6.0
      Import application artifacts, including configuration data and properties files, into your new deployment.
    - Migrating Cognos® Business Intelligence
      Use a new content store to migrate Cognos® Business Intelligence for HCL Connections™ from 5.0 or 5.5 to 6.0.
    - Restoring FileNet® components after migrating to IBM® Connections 6.0
      After you migrate to HCL Connections™ 6.0 CR1, update Connections Content Manager and then restore your FileNet® components.
    - Post-migration tasks
      After you migrate to HCL Connections™ 6.0, perform post-migration tasks to ensure that your new deployment is complete.
    - Rolling back a migration
      If a migration fails, you can roll back your environment to the previous one.

Ensure that you have installed the following Linux™ packages and libraries:

Notes: Ensure that the GTK library is available on your system. Even when you are installing on a 64-bit system, you still need the 32-bit version of the GTK library.

If you are using silent mode or console mode to install IBM® Connections, you do not need these libraries.

Cognos®

If you plan to install Cognos®, you also need the libraries listed in the IBM Cognos Business Intelligence 10.2.2 Supported Software Environments technote. Follow the Requirements by platform link for Linux and then read the Footnotes section.

Note: If you want to use the 32-bit version of Installation Manager and run it in GUI mode, you must download the 32-bit versions of the libraries as explained in the IBM technote, Unable to install 32-bit Installation Manager on RHEL 6.0/6.1 (64-bit). You only need the libraries if you want to use GUI mode (not for silent mode or console mode).
