Enabling authentication with Search Guard

Enable certificate-based authentication and authorization for a stand-alone Elasticsearch deployment in HCL Connections™.

Before you begin

This task only applies to a stand-alone Elasticsearch deployment. If you installed Elasticsearch as part of the Component Pack for Connections, skip this task.

Before enabling security for Search Guard, prepare certificates for SSL configuration and authentication. Refer to the Search Guard guide, TLS for production environments.

Procedure

  1. Enable SSL as explained in the Search Guard Configuring TLS article.
  2. Enable certificate-based authentication and authorization as explained in the Search Guard Client certificate based authentication article.
  3. Verify that the Elasticsearch cluster functions properly with SSL encryption and certificate-based authentication enabled.
