Optional: Installing and configuring the Ephox Editors for IBM Connections
IBM® Connections 6.0 CR5 can use the optional Ephox Editors: TinyMCE or Textbox.io, to replace the IBM Connections default rich text editor.
Selecting which rich text editor to deploy
Deploy the TinyMCE, Textbox.io rich text editors, or use the default rich text editor delivered in IBM Connections.

  - The installation process
    Review the steps that are required to install IBM® Connections.
  - Pre-installation tasks
    Complete the following tasks before installing IBM® Connections. If you are migrating from a prior release of IBM Connections, do not complete the tasks for creating databases or populating the Profiles database. The migration process handles those tasks automatically.
  - Installing IBM® Connections
    Select the IBM® Connections applications that you plan to use and install them in a clustered deployment.
  - Post-installation tasks
    After installation, you need to perform further tasks to ensure an efficient deployment.
    - Registering custom widgets
      Register all custom and third-party widgets with Conenctions 6 to ensure they meet security requirements and can display in communities.
    - Reviewing the JVM heap size
      Review the size of the Java™ Virtual Machine heap and adjust it, if necessary, to avoid out-of-memory errors or to suit your hardware capabilities.
    - Configuring IBM® HTTP Server
      When you have successfully installed IBM® Connections to run on WebSphere® Application Server, you can configure IBM HTTP Server to handle web traffic.
    - Configuring the Home page administrator
      Create an administrator for Home page so that you can make changes to the application such as adding and removing widgets.
    - Configuring additional IBM Connections applications
      You must perform additional tasks to enable IBM Connections for the Orient Me home page, the Touchpoint interactive user experience, Community Libraries, Community Surveys, Metrics applications, and more.
    - Optional: Installing and configuring the Ephox Editors for IBM Connections
      IBM® Connections 6.0 CR5 can use the optional Ephox Editors: TinyMCE or Textbox.io, to replace the IBM Connections default rich text editor.

        Review the system requirements, configuration, and deployment options before installing the Ephox Editors for IBM Connections.
      - Selecting which rich text editor to deploy
        Deploy the TinyMCE, Textbox.io rich text editors, or use the default rich text editor delivered in IBM Connections.
        Configuration options for the Ephox Editor
        The functionality of the Ephox Editors: TinyMC and Textbox.io that are installed by the Ephox Editors for IBM Connections integration can be modified in a configuration file.
        Changing the Stylesheet
        Any changes to the stylesheet must be done before installing Ephox Editors for IBM Connections.
        Installing the Ephox Editors
        Ephox Editors: TinyMCE and Textbox.io for IBM Connections are provided as a packaged set of files ready to deploy as an IBM Connections JavaScript customization.
        Installing Ephox Editors for AIX, Linux, and UNIX
        Optionally install the AIX, Linux, or UNIX version of Ephox Editors: TinyMCE and Textbox.io for IBM Connections to use instead of its default rich text editor.
        Installing Ephox Editors for Windows
        Optionally install the Windows version of Ephox Editors: TinyMCE and Textbox.io for IBM Connections to use instead of its default rich text editor.
        Installing the Ephox Editors manually
        Installing an Epoxy Editor: TinyMCE or Textbox.io manually is provided as a fallback in case, for whatever reason, the automated installers don't work or you prefer to install manually rather than using the installation wizard.
        Additional Ephox Editor installation tasks
        If you have decided to use either Ephox Editor: TinyMCE or Textbox.io, perform the following tasks to ensure you can take advantage its features.
      - Optional: Role-based deployment for the Ephox Editor for IBM Connections
        The optional role-based deployment module enables administrators to determine and configure which IBM WebSphere Application Server users or groups receive access to the Ephox editor.
      - Learn more about the Ephox Editor
        To learn more about how image uploading works and editor fallback for the Ephox Editor, review the following topics.
      - Uninstalling the Ephox Editor for IBM Connections
        You can use an automatic uninstall program based on your operating system to remove the Ephox Editor for IBM Connections from your environment.
    - Optional post-installation tasks
      Complete the post-installation tasks that are relevant to your deployment.
  - Uninstalling IBM® Connections
    Uninstall IBM® Connections.
- Migrating and updating
  Migrate IBM® Connections and its supporting software to the latest release and then update the installation with the latest interim fixes or Cumulative Refresh (CR).
- Administering
  Run administration and maintenance tasks to keep your environment up-to-date. For example, learn how to customize your deployment or how to use the wsadmin utility to edit configuration files. You can also schedule tasks, maintain application databases, moderate content, or manage users and their roles.

Installing the Ephox Editors

Ephox Editors: TinyMCE and Textbox.io for IBM Connections are provided as a packaged set of files ready to deploy as an IBM Connections JavaScript customization.

Before you install:

Ensure you have downloaded the latest version of the Ephox Editors for IBM Connections package and uncompress the package.
Read and follow the Customizing the Ephox Editor section before you install any files on the server.
If you are installing Ephox Editors for IBM Connections into a clustered instance of Connections and have not put the customization subdirectory on a shared file system, accessible by all nodes, you need to install Ephox Editors for IBM Connections manually on each node.

The Ephox Editors for IBM Connections integration makes TinyMCE and Textbox.io available as the rich text editor within IBM Connections. For more information on the versions of TinyMCE and Textbox.io packaged with this integration, see the changelog.html file included in the download.

For Unix, Linux and AIX server deployments a shell script is provided that automates the majority of the deployment process.

For Microsoft Windows server deployments a MSI package is provided that automates the majority of the deployment process. A set of manual installation steps is also included.

Ephox Editors for IBM Connections ships with TinyMCE and Textbox.io services for spell-checking that require separate installation and configuration. Refer to Installing the Ephox Editors services for spell check
