Database password encryption for DB2

By default, HCL Compass does not encrypt database passwords sent to the DB2® server. To enable password encryption for DB2, configure the HCL Compass database connect options and configure the DB2 server for encryption.

  1. To encrypt database passwords sent to the DB2 server, you must use the connect option DB2_SECURE_LOGIN and set the authentication method for the DB2 server to SERVER_ENCRYPT.
  2. Configure the DB2 server for encryption by following the instructions that are provided in the IBM® DB2 Information Center for the version you are using. See DB2 database product documentation.
Note: If the DB2_SECURE_LOGIN connection option is set in ClearQuest®, connection requests to a DB2 server that is not configured for encryption cause an ODBC DB2 Wire Protocol driver error.
