HCL Compass Web is a browser-based interface to HCL Compass that runs on Windows, the UNIX system, and Linux. You can track defects and change requests in HCL Compass Web through this interface. When a session times out, you can re-authenticate and continue where you left off because the state of the user interface is retained.
Queries are customized searches of a HCL Compass database.
Add filter definitions to queries to select only those database records that meet the criteria you define.
The first step in creating a query is to select a record type. You can only select one record type from the list.
Create queries to retrieve records in a user database. You can create a query for any record type that is defined in HCL Compass Web.
You can modify the filters and display fields of a query.
Queries are stored in Workspace folders. You can run any query in any folder that you have access to.
You can create a bookmark in your browser for a record, query, data-push report, or data-push chart that you work with frequently.
You can create a HCL Compass Favorite for a record, query, traditional data-push report, or traditional data-push chart that you work with frequently.
You can provide other users direct access to the results of a query, data-push report, or data-push chart by sending a URL by e-mail.
HCL Compass Web keeps a history of recently run records, queries, data-push reports, and traditional data-push charts during your current user session so that you can run them again.
You can configure HCL Compass Web to run a startup query, data-push report, or data-push chart each time you log in to a user database. Only one startup query, report, or chart can be set.
You can stop a particular query, data-push report, or data-push chart from running when HCL Compass starts up.
You can refresh the items listed in a result set.
You can customize the columns in result sets.
Specify user preferences to control the date and time format displayed in a query result set (on-screen, printed, and exported).
You can modify the filters and display fields of a query in a result set.
You can create a query by selecting records from a query result set.
You can print result sets for hardcopy versions.
You can export the contents of a result set for offline access or to import into another application.
You can import the query results into a Microsoft® Excel spreadsheet by using the query Web address. Only Microsoft Excel 2002 and 2003 are supported.
You can use Collaborative Lifecycle Management (CLM) integrations to connect the work of all team members. Collaborative Lifecycle Management integrations with HCL Compass Web are also referred to as the HCL Compass Bridge.
Using the HCL Compass Web client, you can create Representational State Transfer (REST) Uniform Resource Identifiers (URIs) to log on to your user database and perform common tasks. REST URIs provide a uniform interface to Web resources, letting you access data by using any HTTP client.
When you use the integration with HCL VersionVault Unified Change Management (UCM), HCL Compass records enabled for UCM provide current information about associated UCM activity.
Use the HCL Compass Client to submit, modify, and track change requests and to analyze project progress.
You can use HCL Compass to perform daily activities after the schema developer and administrator define and set up the schema, schema repository, and user database.
The application lifecycle management (ALM) packages and ALM schema provide out-of-the-box solutions for ensuring ALM best practices in your new or existing HCL Compass change management system.
