Configuring client authentication in WebSphere Application Server

Configure WebSphere® Application Server to accept client authentication for SSL connections.

Procedure

  1. Start the WebSphere Application Server administrative console. The default location for the console is https://localhost:9043/ibm/console.
    Tip: When you start the WebSphere Application Server administrative console, Integrated Solutions Consoledisplays in the title bar.
  2. Click Security > Global security in the navigation pane.
    The Global security page opens.
  3. In the Administrative security section, select the Enable administrative security check box.
    By default, when you select this check box, the Enable application security check box in the Application security section is selected.
  4. Ensure that the Use Java 2 security to restrict application access to local resources check box in the Java 2 security section is cleared.
  5. Click Apply.
  6. In the Authentication section, expand RMI/IIOP security and select CSIv2 inbound authentication.
  7. In the Client certificate authentication section, select the Supported option.
  8. Click Apply. Then, click Save.
