Terms

Lucene defines a query as comprising terms and operators.

Terms are classified into two categories, single terms and phrases. A single term is a single word such as spell or error. A phrase is a group of two or more words delimited by double quotation marks, such as business report. You can combine multiple terms by using Boolean operators to form a more complex query.

By default, Lucene is case insensitive when it searches on terms. This means that a search on the terms business, Business, and BUSINESS will all generate the same result set.
