Connecting to a database
You must connect to a database before you can use the Compass software. Contact your administrator to request an ID, password, and the schema repository name. Note that you must have write access to the HCL Compass registry keys under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE to create a database connection.

You must connect to a database before you can use the Compass software. Contact your administrator to request an ID, password, and the schema repository name. Note that you must have write access to the HCL Compass registry keys under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE to create a database connection.

Procedure

To connect to a database for the first time:

Click File > Database > Connection > New Connection.
On the first page of the New Connection wizard, select a schema repository and click Next.
On the next page of the wizard, type your user ID and click Finish.
In the Connect window, enter your password and click OK.
After the connection request successfully completes, your connection information appears as the top-level node in the Navigator view.
